I just watched a video about a young guy who lost over 100 pounds weight in a year, that is about two pounds per week. If you want to lose weight you could try and do what he did. This is basically his story.

The first thing he said is to swap normal soda for diet soda. Personally I would drink water for even less calories and as I believe diet sodas may help you lose weight but are otherwise not real good for you. This guy said he lost four pound the first week he swapped drinks.

The next thing he said was to eat a very big breakfast of oats. You can add sugar and milk, it does not matter. Oats do not have too many calories. A good healthy breakfast has been shown to help people lose weight because they eat less during the day after a big breakfast.

The biggest thing that helped him to lose weight was to play DDR. That is Dance Dance Revolution. DDR is fun and as he said he was not really trying to lose weight but the dance activity just made him lose weight by burning calories.

As he said three things helped him lose 100 pounds weight in a year. Swap regular soda for diet, have a big breakfast and play DDR or some other activity but do not sink into a couch.

Pretty simple way to lose weight for a young guy. Old folks you may have to try the foxtrot rather than the waltz. Maybe a bit of line dancing would help you lose weight as well. But the young guy did it most days.

If you believe you can you will lose weight. if you believe you cant you will not lose weight. Belief is the core to losing weight for the long term. You must believe that you will lose weight.

To influence your mind you may have to use positive affirmations every day until you have lost all the weight you want to lose. Every day you need to send positive message to your brain. When or if you think that you are too fat, counter that with a deliberate affirmation such as " I may be overweight but for the next 10 weeks I will have lost one pound weight each week."

Every negative thought you may have about your weight, deliberately change the message to a positive one where you eat less or exercise more. Continue to strengthen your mind every day and you will find not only have you lost some weight but it will change you in other ways as well.

Positive affirmations can also be complimented with visual images or words. Write out a number of positive affirmations like: "I am losing weight every day by eating less." You can make your own affirmation messages that you can read out loud every day. What you can also do is cut out a body in a magazine and then paste a picture/photo of your head. Visualize how you will look after you lose the weight you want to lose.

The affirmations and thinner images of yourself suggest to your brain that you are losing weight so what happens in reality is that you do begin to lose weight.

Strengthen your mind and will power to stop yourself from making bad choices as regards eating certain foods and to force yourself to go to the gym or exercise class or walk or run you had planned.

The key is your mental strength to control your actions so that over time you will lose weight in a healthy natural way.

To lose weight is in some ways the easy part. The hard part is to prevent putting the lost weight back on. Statistics show that approximately 20% of people who lose weight managae their new weight and do not put any weight back on.

That fact suggests that to lose weight and then not put any back on has to be a lifestyle issue. The 20% must have adapted to their new lifestyle. A different lifestyle is needed to both lose the weight initially and then to prevent any future weight gain.

The lifestyle must include different eating and exercise habits. This lifestyle has to be ongoing and that is why some fad or fast diets only work for a short time.

The mind plays a large part in changing your lifestyle. You have to want to lose the weight and then have the strength of mind or willpower to maintain the lifestyle to prevent any weight gain.

For me an extended life would be motivation alone to change my lifestyle to first lose weight and then to maintain it. An extra seven years statistically is enough for me.

There is so much written about how to lose weight that anyone who wants to lose a bit of weight has no shortage of information. There are some conflicting reports on what is the best/fastest/healthiest way to lose weight but basically a bit of common sense, strong will power and you should be able to lose some weight.

The commom sense approach is quite simply to eat less and walk more.

When you eat you are consuming calories and when you walk you are burning calories. The simple scientific fact to losing weight is to burn more calories than you consume.

Consume less and burn more calories gives you a double approach to lose weight. If you do not want to do both then simply do one. Either eat less with the same amount of walking or walk more and eat the same amount of food. All three methods will help you to lose weight. Obviously if you eat less and walk more then you will lose weight more quickly than if you only eat less or just walk more.

No stress you can decide for your self.

Scientifically you have yo burn roughly 500 calories per day to lose one pound per week. That is getting a bit technical because you have to figure out how many calories are in each meal and how many calories you burn when you walk for 30 minutes.

Lets just keep it simple. To lose weight eat less and walk more.

Well AARP has said that it will stop marketing these health insurance plans and has hired an independent expert to evaluate these health insurance plans offered by United Health with AARP as the commissioned agent.

The reason Senator Grassley was concerned is that the plans cap the amount that UnitedHealth pays for medical services but do not provide catastrophic coverage for members. In effect AARP members will have a considerable deficit to pay for their health treatments.

Losing weight has become big business in the Western world. There are so many weight loss programs about and a lot of the data out there sometimes contradicts other data that shows you how to lose weight.

There are diets to lose 9 pounds weight in eleven days, there are operating procedures that will reduce the size of the stomach (smaller stomach less room for food is the theory), there are gastric by-pass procedures. All of these ways to lose weight and many do not work or if they do they only last for a short period of time.

The simple theory of losing weight is to burn more calories than you consume. Eat less, exercise more is also a simple way to burn more calories than are consumed.

The biggest point in trying to lose weight is to get your mind pointing in the right direction. By that I mean you have to want to lose weight for real. You have to be able to visualize how you will look after you have lost x pounds of weight. A simple thing to do is to take a photo of your head and then add somebody elses body that looks like you want to look. Put the photo in a place where you will it everyday. That way you will see yourself everyday as you want to look.

From there progressively eat a little less food and if need be change to healthier food choices. Cut out the cookie or cookies you have with a cup of coffee. A cookie a day can add five pounds weight over a year. If you cut that cookie out of your diet you will lose five pounds in a year. Do that for the donut when you go to Tim Hortons or Wendys as well and in a year another five pounds lost. Pretty simple eh! Easy too, not always!

Likewise walk a bit further every time you go somewhere in the car, or if it is only around the block try walking instead. You did not gain all that extra weight in a week. It was a gradual process to gain all that extra weight so the body really need to lose all that extra weight in a reverse gradual process.

Do that, use a bit of common sense and with the right mind set you will begin to see results. Treat losing weight as a long term project, think out a year at the very least because really to lose weight is a life choice that will stay with you for the rest of life.

New research published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism reveals that dieting alone is equally effective at reducing weigh and fat as a combination of diet and exercise—as long as the calories consumed and burned equal out. The research also indicates that the addition of exercise to a weight-loss regimen does not change body composition and abdominal fat distribution, debunking the idea that specific exercises can reduce fat in targeted areas (e.g., exercise to reduce fat around a person's midsection).

"It's all about the calories," said Dr. Eric Ravussin of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La., and senior author of the study. "So long as the energy deficit is the same, body weight, fat weight, and abdominal fat will all decrease in the same way."

We are genetically programmed for storing fat in a particular pattern — and that this programming can't be easily overcome. So if you are genetically predisposed to store fat in the hips all the exercises that are designed to reduce your hip size may not work if you are calorie neutral. You have to be calorie negative, that is you burn more than you consume.

So how to lose weight gets a little more complicated. It is not just about diet and exercise. It is also about body type and fat predisposition to areas of your body.

A prominent member of the Senate Finance Committee U.S. Sen Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa is looking into some niche health insurance plans offered to AARP members to see if they mislead purchasers into thinking the coverage is greater than it actually is.

Instead of capping what the policyholder pays, as traditional insurance does, these plans cap what the insurer pays. As a result, a policyholder who needs expensive care, such as major surgery, might wind up liable for thousands of dollars in medical bills if they exceed the insurer's share. The plans generally have lower premiums than traditional insurance with catastrophic coverage.

"The pitch for these products should be straight-up and informative, instead of designed to leave the impression of being comprehensive when the product is in fact very limited," Grassley said in a statement late Monday. "A big-time advocate of health security [AARP] should not target under- and uninsured Americans with misleading marketing."

Grassley sent letters Monday to state insurance commissioners asking if they've received complaints on the plans. He also sent a letter to AARP Chief Executive William Novelli asking how the plans are marketed.

"We're treating the questions raised by Sen. Grassley very seriously," said Adam Sohn, an AARP spokesman. "The indemnity plans are not designed to be comprehensive insurance, nor should they be communicated in this manner."

UnitedHealth spokeswoman Martha Jones said, "We do not market this as major medical catastrophic insurance, or as an alternative to major medical. All advertising materials note the plan offers limited benefits.''

Whether it's because you want to look good on the beach, or perhaps you just want to improve your health, you just want to know how to lose 20 pounds quickly. Or, perhaps its just 10 pounds in a couple of weeks. Maybe you've got a wedding coming up so you need to lose weight.

Trying to lose weight today or real fast is generally not the way to go. You may lose the weight quickly but there is a strong probability that you will put it back on. It is better to try and lose weight over a longer time frame. One or two pounds a week is best.
