Georgia has become the 31st state where Aetna sells policies to AARP members in that age group to help bridge an insurance gap — targeting people who lack employer coverage but have not reached the Medicare eligibility age of 65.

AARP members between the ages of 50 and 64 and their dependents will be able to choose from seven different plan options in three categories: preferred provider organizations; health plans compatible with health savings accounts; and preventive and hospital plans, which have more limited coverage.

AARP health insurance is big business for AARP. AARP services approximately seven million people with health insurance in partnership with United Healthcare and it plans to double the number of people it sells health insurance to.

Many of AARP members buy supplemental plans that beef up the coverage they get from the government, but the deal in 2007 with United Health and Aetna is to target a slightly younger crowd. The 50 to 64 age AARP members still working.

Dawn Sweeny the chief executive of AARP said that there is a great need in the 50 to 64 population particularly for affordable quality health care, with about 7.1 million people uninsured in that age. With 38 million members AARP's size should help it keep prices down.

Sweeny also said that AARP expects to rake in roughly $4.4 billion in health insurance, health care royalties over the next seven years.

That is about $115 per member that AARP will receive in health insurance royalties. If you use the current figures doubling to 14 million AARP members with health insurance through AARP's partners United Heathcare and Aetna then that will be about $314 that AARP will receive in health insurance royalties over the next seven years from members with health insurance.

Consider moving your 401(k) plan to your new employer's plan, if there is one, or roll it over into an IRA.

Q. I'm 74, retired and living on a fixed income. I may not have enough money for my living expenses, but I own my own home. Is taking out a reverse mortgage a wise move?

AARP members are all over 50 years of age and looking to retire. With the current financial ripples, waves or tsunami effect on the share markets of the world many of the funds that AARP members have put their retirement monies into have lost value. These lost values will be most felt by AARP members who are/were planning to retire in the next 24 months. If you Google individual companies you will discover information which may well tell you whether then company will survive.

The income that these AARP were expecting to receive will not happen. Why? I have just looked at the AARP Financial web site. There is a chart that shows what you can achieve taking advantage of the Individual Retirement Account (IRA). Assuming you are over 50 you can contribute certain maximum amounts with an additional $1000 catch up amount.

The chart shows that after 20 years your assets will be $237,154 with out the additional $1000 catch up amount. With the $1000 catch up payment your assets will be $276,147.

There are some assumptions. Investments are made on Jan 1 each year and return 6% annual return, plus no tax effect on either contributions or withdrawals. To arrive at these figures the individual AARP member at age 50 would have to contribute $4000 in 2006/2007 and $5000 in 2008 and each year thereafter. Those who take advantage of the catch up contributions would pay in 2006/2007 $5000, and $6000 in 2008 and beyond. After 2008 there is a 3% upward adjustment rounded to $500.

So what is the total cost to get the $237,154 and $276,147 amounts respectively ignoring the 3% upward adjustment, $98,000 and $118,000. That does not look too bad a 242% and a 234% increase respectively for no catch up payment and with the catch up payment.

Remember if you are an AARP member you have no control basically over how the money is invested.

Now I am going to show all AARP members what could happen if you decide to invest in a home business that has been around for 9 years and is run by an honest individual who has turned the home business upside down with his business model.

If you were to invest $1000 on Jan 1 (we will use the exact same time frame as above. After 20 years you would have $1,370,411. That is assuming you reinvested all profits back into the business. Honesty

A couple days ago on the Fox News Network the nose to nose
confrontation between Bill O'Reilly and Barney Frank exposed a basic
problem in our governments body of politicians. That problem is lying,
even in the exposing with proof that the individual lied he continued
to lie about it thus compounding his lies. This Clintonista type of
conduct is absolutely inexcusable and will not produce good results.
The groundwork for lying was enforced and approved during the Clinton
administration and has not improved during the Bush administration.
Even after impeachment they allowed him to remain in office. What a
stink. If just this one thing, if honesty ruled instead of lying would
make such an improvement that at first people would think the world is
being turned upside down. Wouldn't it be wonderful in your dealings if
we could depend on the other persons honesty. The corruption is so
foul that the stench is reaching into the heavens and if we don't
correct it, who will? It will be corrected, and I ask you, by whom?
Think about it.

I'm beginning to think that somewhere in the law courses in college
there must be a course labeled The Art Of Lying 101, 102, 103 etc. I
don't know if it is true or not but I have heard that in the
seminaries that the art of crying effectively is actually taught in
some of their public speaking classes. Personally I think their whole
course in public speaking is just one great lie. A lot of the TV
Evangelists have been experts in this art form of lying and crying.
There were some that even combined their drinking of alcohol and their
public displays right on TV. There was one released from prison after
stealing money for years from the gullible people, that has the
intestinal fortitude to return to TV with his stupid appearance of
lies and testimonies. All I have to say about that is, how
disgusting.

If you check my past blogs I have stated over and over that honesty is
the best policy in the conduct of you and your operation of your home
based business. At times honesty can be a little troubling at the
time, but if you really consider it to its end, you will find that
honest really pays. What will always trip you up is that you won't
always remember just what you lied about and stated, honesty has one
answer, however lies have many different answers. Multiple choice take
your pick and hope it's the right one. The sad part is that we are
learning life's lessons the hard way. I don't even want to hear about
the little white lie, take it up with God. A lie is a lie. Anybody
that thinks a little white lie is ok, they have been derailed and a
little white lie will eventually lead to the big one. Color it anyway
you want. That could be your first class in Color It The Way You Want;
Lie 101.
