Lets take fuel prices for one, we all know that when they go up all
other products need to go up to offset the cost of shipping.
I have been in and out of the grocery retail industry for over the
past 30 years as an owner and manager of large and small volumes
stores and I can remember back in the 70`s when we had a fuel shortage
and one manufacturing company I won`t mention and names( P&G) decided
in my opinion to take advantage of this.
If you do the grocery shopping you will relate, I first noticed that
diapers were being reduced in count per package and paper products had
less sheets per roll, this was explained to the public, we are trying
to keep the prices down. (Ha Ha Ha do be fooled for a second)
OK lets move forward to the late 80`s early 90`s guess what, inflation
hit again. Can you guess what happened and who was taking the lead as
all of the manufacturing companies now followed this type of marketing
to cut costs and keep the retail prices down.
Well what happen when fuel prices started to rise earlier this year,
you guessed right you can now buy a 24 pack of what is known as
private label bath tissue for only around $4.98 and if you have any
kids you might be able to wipe for about a week or so and then have to
buy another one.
Try and find a 16 oz. can of green beans or how about a 12-13 oz. box
of cereal that is now a 8-9oz. box. I haven`t seen the prices stay
down on any of these products. By now you are asking what the heck
does this have to do with an inflation proof home business.
